The Wonderstanding of Father Simeon is my most recent book.
It is another August day in Philly with the usual summer heat and hurry… From around the corner saunters Father Simeon, a hairy and wild desert monk, who drags an empty dog leash, throws peanuts at people while yelling, “BLESS YOU!” and houses a King Beetle in his scraggly beard. Turns out, Father Simeon was on a walk to the marketplace and accidentally time-traveled to the corner of 4th and Le Point Vierge just a few blocks from Center City. Is his story true or is it the fabrication of a madman?
Perpetually in wonder at everything, Father Simeon strikes up a conversation with Joel outside a coffee shop. Joel is a young man, hard on his luck, struggling with cynicism, and trying to figure out how to navigate the essentials of life, community, emotions, reconciliation, love, simplicity, materialism and so much more.
There is, however, one question that needs to be answered: Is Father Simeon an idiot, a saint, or a mix of both?
